The Trinity Foundation is partnering with the Millsboro American Legion Auxiliary to provide care packages for local men and women in the Armed Forces who are deployed during the holidays.

This will be the third year the Trinity Foundation is helping with the effort, titled Operation: Trinity Cares. Each year, members of the Foundation have donated approximately 35 care packages to the Auxiliary to send to those serving.

The Trinity Foundation is expanding the program’s outreach this year by challenging other local businesses to drop off care packages to Trinity Logistics’ headquarters in Seaford, Del.

“The ‘thank you’s’ we get from the troops about this program are very heartwarming,” said Cindy Phillips, President of the Millsboro American Legion Auxiliary. “That’s why we do it, so these men and women know they’re not forgotten during the holidays.”

The care packages have included everything from socks, candy, t-shirts, snacks, and notes of appreciation.

The Trinity Foundation’s Operation: Trinity Cares Program Coordinator Jen Hoffman has a very personal reason she backs the effort each year.

“These folks not only put their lives on the line when called, but daily sacrifice time with their family and their personal lives to protect me and my family,” said Hoffman. “Recently when my teenager announced his desire to join the Navy, I was able to see these men and women as our sons and daughters, children’s best friends, and neighbors. I am so grateful to work with a company that steps up in every way possible to make a positive impact on our community.”

The Trinity Foundation will collect the care packages October 4 through October 25 then will send them to the Millsboro American Legion Auxiliary to distribute.

“The men and women who receive these packages tell us they love it because it’s a piece of home,” said Nancy Bush, Chairman of the National Security Committee of the Millsboro American Legion Auxiliary./p>

Trinity Foundation Golf Tournament

On a gray and chilly April Saturday at our headquarters in Seaford, Del., about 150 people laced up their running sneakers for the Trinity Foundation’s 7th Annual Heart & Sole 5K. Through both event registration and t-shirt sales, the Foundation raised $11,400 dollars for the Nanticoke Health Services Cardiac Unit.

The proceeds from 2016’s Heart & Sole 5K went towards purchasing two treadmills for the Cardiac Unit at Nanticoke Hospital. About 20 people use these machines per day, meaning approximately 100,000 people will benefit in the average 20-year lifespan for these machines.

“We are, once again, excited to see the success and impact of our 7th annual Heart & Sole 5K. Not only is this a great opportunity to support Trinity’s Wellness Campaign, but it is a great rallying point for the community in our efforts to support our local health provider, Nanticoke Health Services,” said Greg Massey of Trinity and race lead organizer. “We appreciate all of the sponsors and contributors, and everyone that came out to show their support for the event. We’re already looking forward to the 8th annual event next year.”

Participants were given the opportunity to run or walk the 5K, with categories ranging from children under 10 years old, to men and women over 70. Mardiny Ung from Elizabethtown, Pa. was the Female champion, finishing the race at 24:15:7. Tricia Massey of Felton, Del. was the Female Masters Champion, finishing the race at 25:37:5. In the men’s division, David Berger of Cherry Hill, NJ earned the bragging rights of Male Champion, finishing the race at 17:33:, and placing first overall.  Robert Lupo of Marydel, Del. was named the Male Masters Champion, after finishing the race at 20:42:3.

“We are very appreciative of Trinity for their commitment to the community and the healthcare of western Sussex County.  Through the funds of the annual 5K Walk/Run, heart patients at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital will greatly benefit through a new non-invasive hemodynamic heart system,” says Renee’ S. Morris, Executive Director of Nanticoke Health Foundation.

In additional to Trinity Logistics and the Trinity Foundation, other event sponsors included the Banning Foundation; QuantumEdge Technology; Granite Logistics; Sussex County, Delaware; the City of Seaford; and more.

In combination with money raised from the Foundation’s Big Pink Volleyball tournament in March, the Foundation will present Nanticoke Health Services with more than $16,000 toward their causes, up from last year’s $13,800 donation, a 16% increase.

What happens when more than 200 people pack Delmarva Christian High School in Georgetown to support and play an unusual volleyball match on a Saturday? There’s a lot of fun, a lot of teamwork, some sore muscles, and a record amount of money collected to support a local cancer center.

This was the fourth year Trinity Logistics and the Trinity Foundation organized “Big Pink Volleyball” to benefit the Nanticoke Cancer Care Center in Seaford, and the first year that the event was completely sold out. Twenty-four teams, consisting of 186 people from Trinity’s Team Members, community members, and local organizations, including seven teams from Nanticoke Health Services, participated in the marathon day of volleyball on Saturday, March 4. Between registration, door prizes, and money raised during Trinity’s “Week of Pink” silent auction, Trinity Logistics and the Trinity Foundation were able to donate $8500 to the Nanticoke Cancer Care Center, nearly doubling the $4300 raised last year.

“The employees at Trinity Logistics have developed a unique and fun way to bring awareness to breast cancer. The Nanticoke Health Foundation is very grateful for the partnership and the investment that Trinity makes for the cancer patients in our community,” says Renee’ S. Morris, Executive Director of Nanticoke Health Foundation.

The 24 teams that participated this year made creative team names, showed their sportsmanship with team shirts, and donated their time to the cause. The “Dave’s Floor Covering” team took home the grand prize of bragging rights after beating out “Nanticoke Rehab All-Stars” in the final match.

“The Trinity Foundation loves seeing Big Pink Volleyball grow year after year because it brings awareness to people in our community that excellent cancer care is available right here in Seaford,” said Amy Proctor, Director of the Trinity Foundation. “We are thankful for the community’s involvement in bringing awareness and raising money for such a worthy cause.”

This year’s tournament was made possible by Preston Motor, the full court sponsor; Eastern Shore Poultry, who donated a YETI ® cooler for the raffle; and Trinity’s Advanced Services Team who sponsored the Wall of Wishes to be signed by Big Pink players.

Trinity Logistics would also like to thank Delmarva Christian High School for providing the facility and concessions for Big Pink players, volunteers, and attendees.

Mark your calendars for next year!

Trucking Moves America Forward, a company focused on creating a positive image for the trucking industry, has recognized Trinity Logistics for its work to “deliver the holidays” through charitable contributions.

We were one of 17 transportation businesses across America recognized for their efforts in 2016. TMAF highlighted our “Thanksgiving for All” event where the Trinity Foundation partnered with Perdue Farms and the Food Bank of Delaware to feed 275 local families. We also were recognized for our Christmas Families program, where Trinity Team Members were able to help seven families with Christmas presents and essentials this holiday season.

“The holidays are a time when all of us – friends, family, neighbors, communities – come together and share special moments, and I couldn’t be more pleased to highlight the integral role trucking has in making this happen each year,” said Kevin Burch, co-chairman of TMAF, president of Jet Express, Inc., and chairman of American Trucking Associations.

In 2005, Trinity formed a 501(c)(3)  non-profit organization to streamline its community service and charitable giving. Read more about the Foundation’s efforts here.

Trinity Logistics was founded in 1979 with one location and only three employees. Today, they have over 250 team members in 5 regional service center locations across the country and an additional 90 agent offices. Trinity is ranked in the Top 25 providers of their kind by Transport Topics Magazine, a Top 100 3PL by Food Logistics Magazine, and an Inc. 5000 Fastest Growing Company. The privately-owned business has grown into being one of the top logistics companies in the nation, providing freight solutions on a global scale. Due to this extensive nationwide presence and experience, Trinity is positioned to provide a solution for any of your logistics needs, no matter how extensive, with the best customer service you’ll see in the industry.

Trinity Logistics has been announced as the Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA)’s 2016 Samaritan Award winner. This prestigious award is given annually to a third party logistics company (3PL) that offers exceptional assistance to others in need.

Trinity Logistics, in conjunction with its non-profit organization, the Trinity Foundation, organizes events to benefit charitable causes year-round. The main focus areas include the local communities surrounding Trinity’s five main offices, health awareness, and youth leadership development. The Foundation gives out scholarships for local youth and raises funds for causes including local cancer and heart centers, sports events, meal drives, and support for families in need at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

“Together, over the past ten years, Team Trinity and the Foundation have been involved in many causes and local community projects, from feeding the hungry, to youth leadership development programs and support of our military. We have raised thousands of dollars in support of those efforts,” said Amy Proctor, Trinity Foundation Director. “We are so honored that the TIA would recognize these efforts by selecting us as the 2016 Samaritan Award winner.”

The TIA recognizes that voluntary service or assistance can take a multitude of forms, and was impressed by the Trinity Foundation’s variety of outreach methods.

“Trinity Logistics’ efforts stood out among a multitude of capable nominees,” said Robert Voltmann, President and CEO, Transportation Intermediaries Association. “Their donation of time, talent, and money has led by example among a group of 3PL companies that we are proud to call TIA members. The diversity of causes that Trinity supported – wigs for cancer patients, multiple charity 5K races, and food drives for the local food bank – were truly impressive.”

Along with the award, the TIA donates all funds raised by their annual TIA Foundation Charity Fun Run to a charity of the winner’s choice. Trinity has designated the Delmarva Teen Challenge Home of Hope as the beneficiary of this year’s funds. Home of Hope is a women’s center for those healing from life-controlling addictions across the Delmarva (Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia) region.

“This accolade from the TIA is a testament to how individuals can come together for a cause and leave a legacy,” said Jeff Banning, President and CEO of Trinity Logistics. “Team Trinity’s choice of the Home of Hope as the recipient of the award will make such an impact on Delmarva. I am very proud of this team.”

Trinity Logistics, in conjunction with the Trinity Foundation, held its annual “Heart and Sole 5K” on Saturday, March 26th, at Trinity in Seaford. The event’s goal is to encourage heart health awareness, as well as raise funds for the Nanticoke Health Services Cardiac Unit. This year’s event was highly successful and raised $9,500 that will go to purchase new workout equipment for recovering cardiac patients.

“Through the Heart and Sole 5K, Trinity Logistics and community members put their best foot forward to assist cardiac rehabilitation patients at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital,” said Renee’ Morris, Nanticoke Health Services Executive Director.  “Funds will assist with the purchase of new treadmills for patients walking their own journey of a healthier heart.”

This year, the sixth in the Trinity Foundation’s history, there were 160 participants ranging from young children to seniors in the 5K from around Delmarva.

“It is imperative that our community is made aware of heart disease, the silent killer that is the leading cause of death among men and women in the United States,” said Jill Ostermann, Trinity Foundation member and 5K founder. “Your heart is responsible for everything that gives your body life and it is our mission to help those in our community through awareness, education, prevention or with rehabilitation.”

On April 27th, members from Nanticoke Health Services were presented with a check from the Trinity Foundation totaling $13,800, a combination of funds raised from the 5K and Trinity’s Big Pink Volleyball Tournament.

Trinity Logistics, in conjunction with the Trinity Foundation, held its third annual “Big Pink Volleyball Tournament” on Saturday, March 12th, at Delmarva Christian High School in Georgetown. The event’s goal is to encourage breast cancer awareness and prevention, as well as raise funds for the Nanticoke Cancer Center in Seaford, which totaled $4,300 this year.

Twenty teams competed and were comprised of many local organizations, including Nanticoke Health Services, Sharp Energy, Procino Wells and Woodland, and Horsey Family Youth Foundation.  The winner, team “Breast Assured”, was made up of Trinity Logistics team members, and 85 other Trinity team members volunteered to help with the event.

“We have several team members and their families currently being affected by breast cancer,” said Amy Proctor, director of the Trinity Foundation. “Supporting our local cancer care center and their programs that help right here in our community is something we’re passionate about.”

The tournament was made possible by sponsorships from Tri Gas & Oil, Sharp Energy, Seaford Central Elementary School teachers, and the host sponsor, Trinity Logistics.

“The awareness and funding provided from Trinity’s Big Pink Volleyball Tournament is invaluable in helping patients during their journey at the Nanticoke Cancer Center,” said Renee’ S. Morris, executive director of Nanticoke Health Services Foundation.   “We all know of someone that has been impacted by cancer, but because of community members like Trinity Logistics, cancer doesn’t stand a fighting chance.”

The Trinity Foundation held its first “Big Pink Volleyball Tournament” on Saturday, March 15th at Sussex Tech High School in Georgetown, Delaware. This event, which is expected to be held annually, was made possible by sponsors such as Tri Gas & Oil, The Bank of Delmarva, Wilgus Insurance Agency & Financial Services, Sharp Energy, and the host sponsor, Trinity Logistics. The event was created in order to raise funds for breast cancer charities. The 2014 proceeds, which totaled to over $5,200, will be donated to the Nanticoke Cancer Care Center in Seaford, Delaware.

Fourteen teams competed to call themselves the champions of the Big Pink Volleyball tournament.  The team names were just as creative as the tournament “uniforms”, including “Breast Assured”, “Rack Pack”, and “Breast Friends Forever” to name a few. The champions of the day included Joe Cognetta, Mac Baldwin, Mike Gast, Kyle Boyce, Roxanne Williams, Crystal Twilley, John Dyson, and Grayson Williams from team Breast Assured.

The week prior to the tournament was declared the “Week of Pink” at Trinity Logistics, where freight consultants turned out in varying shades of pink, participated in games and trivia to promote the theme and excitement leading up to the big event! Check out all the photos in our Facebook album. On Saturday, the teams came dressed in pink or in costumes to embrace the theme and show their support of the cause, including tutu’s and princess crowns! Fans of all ages came to cheer on the teams and gained valuable knowledge about this prevalent disease. The Nanticoke Cancer Center and Delaware Breast Center were present to educate attendees about breast cancer awareness, early detection, and ways to help the cause.

Big Pink Volleyball tournaments got their start back in 2002 as a way for students attending Western Illinois University to raise money for breast cancer awareness and spread into a national network of events, mostly in the collegiate world. Several of our team members are graduates of WIU, and so the idea was born to bring the fun family-friendly event to Delmarva! Special thanks go out to Sharp Energy of Georgetown, DE for donating a pink beachcomber bicycle to be raffled off during the event. If you’re interested in being contacted regarding next year’s tournament, please contact the Trinity Foundation at [email protected] and watch our Facebook events.
